Remember when summer meant riding your bike everywhere? It didn’t feel like exercise—it felt like fun, freedom, and fresh air. This summer, be like a kid again—get on your bike and go!

Bicycling is a great way to spend time with family and friends. And, while you’re having all that fun, you’ll be getting some great health benefits.

“Riding bikes is a great way for families to do something healthy and fun together,” says Raymond D. Wells, Medical Director. “It doesn’t have to cost a lot, and most folks can do it right in their own neighborhood. Even if you live in a rural area where biking isn’t easy, you can find a nearby park or trail. And it’s worth the effort. Studies show that biking just a few hours a week can dramatically reduce your chance of stroke and heart disease.”

So dust off that bike and get out there. And don’t forget your helmet!
