woods walkThe last thing you want to do after a long day at the mine is to be active, right? No problem. The good news is that you don’t have to join a gym to keep your heart and muscles strong. There are small things you can work into your everyday routine to help you move more:

  • Walk past the elevators and take the stairs instead
  • Drive past the close parking space to the end of the lot
  • Walk your dog, rather than just letting him out in the backyard
  • After dinner, ride bikes with the kids or go for a family walk
  • Schedule touch-football or basketball games on a weekly basis
  • Walk up and down every aisle the next time you are at the hardware store or electronics store
  • Work on some do-it-yourself projects around the house
  • Use a hand-pushed lawn mower, rather than a riding mower
  • Hide the TV remote, so you have to get up to turn the channels (OK, this one’s a bit of a joke, but every bit helps)
